When crises hit, social enterprises are often some of the first to respond as well as being integral to recovery beyond initial disaster response. Following the opening spotlight on the Netherlands, this session will go beyond the co-host country, setting the wider context, recognising recent and current events including the earthquakes in Turkey and Morocco, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The popular SED Talks series is back for another year! Hear from three outstanding social enterprises as they share their stories, lessons learned and answer your questions in the Q&A.

Too often the terms “impact economy”, “new economy”, “social economy” and “regenerative economy” are used without a clear understanding of their important distinctions. Our speaker in favour will make a case for the impact economy which has scaled rapidly to improve business engagement with social and environmental impact.

The circular economy has gained in recognition around the world. At the same time, waste continues to be a major issue globally affecting biodiversity and the environment. As the climate emergency continues to accelerate, how can we move circular practices from niche to mainstream? 

The climate emergency is upon us but together we can build a sustainable future for our planet. This session will spotlight young leaders in a discussion around climate change and social enterprise, as well as the importance of youth voices and their pivotal role in addressing global challenges.

Meet three outstanding young social entrepreneurs who will share their social enterprise stories. From tackling period poverty to providing access to school tutoring support, we can all learn from these incredible young people, regardless of your age or stage (of enterprise).
